Statement from John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on today̢??‰?s confirmation of Senator Cantwell to the chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee

The confirmation of Sen. Maria Cantwell to chair the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship committee bodes well for the direction of small employer-related legislative policies and our continued economic recovery. Cantwell̢??‰?s diverse background, first as a businesswoman and job creator in the private sector, and then working to expand access to capital and encourage investment as a senator, will be a critical asset for her new role.

Small Business Majority̢??‰?s opinion polling found a majority of small business owners see a productive role for government in helping small business thrive. As a former entrepreneur, Cantwell understands how to translate large legislative initiatives into practical, real world policies and will be able to determine how to best steer small business policies to help entrepreneurs and their employees.

Cantwell has a proven track record of promoting entrepreneur-friendly policies and advancing legislation aimed at helping small businesses thrive. We look forward to working with her and the other members of the committee on bolstering small business and promoting a strong economy.
