BYOB—Be Your Own Boss: Women Entrepreneurs Roundtable and Armchair Chat
Women entrepreneurs contribute significantly to our economy's vitality, as women-owned firms account for nearly 10 million of our nation’s small businesses. However, women, especially minorities, still face unique challenges in starting and running their businesses, such as accessing capital.
To address this issue head on, Small Business Majority, in partnership with Accion of Illinois & Northwest Indiana, invites women small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to join us for an event that includes an interactive presentation, networking opportunities and armchair chat to discuss financial capacity and funding options to help start and build scalable businesses. Small Business Majority and Accion will also introduce SimpleGrowth, a new lending tool that easily connects Chicago businesses to local financing. Attendees will also engage in a lively armchair chat with small business owner Vernita Johnson of DLV Printing, a vibrant woman-owned business in the Austin neighborhood, who will share her experiences with launching and growing her business.
